motodrome offer this very smart 1972 Triumph Stag 3.0 Mark One manual/overdrive, finished in vibrant Cherry Red with black trim and black mohair hood fitted with power steering and electric windows, and the correct wheel trims for a Mark 1 Also fitted with the conversion to Weber 38DGMS carburettor, giving better response, economy and reliability, electric fan, stainless exhaust, repositioned alternator, high torque starter motor, oil pressure gauge, and rear seat belts, This one, according to the chassis number, started life as an automatic, before being converted around 20 years ago to the more desirable manual/overdrive transmission, and the overdrive clicks in and out as it should. According to the large history file we have, it underwent full body restoration and a repaint in Cherry Red (it seems it was originally Pimento Red which is slightly darker) between 2016 and 20, and still presents superbly. The interior has been completely redone in black leather with red piping, including the door cards, and utilising Stag Mark 2 front seats. In January 2024 the engine was fully rebuilt by Sigma Engineering in Gillingham including new pistons, bearings, water pump, timing chains, and rebuilt heads with new valves and guides, at an odometer reading of 25651 miles and a cost of over £9500.00 Odometer reading 26000 miles, which from the history is 126000. On test on arrival it performed absolutely superbly, and certainly put a smile on my face – it’s truly a joy to drive with a wonderful V8 soundtrack. The mohair hood was replaced around 5 years ago by the Stag Hood Company, and fits very well. Unfortunately, soon after purchase the then owner managed to put a small split in the rear window. This has however been properly patched and seems to be watertight. We have documentation from Club Triumph who carried out an inspection on the car in March 2022, who were very complimentary about it, summing it up as a ‘very nice example of the model’. And I agree.
