Like the Triumph 2000 it was developed from, the Triumph Stag was styled by Italian maestro Giovanni Michelotti and featured the monocoque construction, independent suspension, disc/drum brakes, power-assisted rack and pinion steering. All Stags were four-seater convertible coupes but for structural rigidity and to meet new American rollover standards at the time, the Stag required a B-pillar 'roll bar' hoop connected to the windscreen frame by a T-bar. The power plant though, was an all-new OHC, V8 of 3000cc capacity fed by a pair of Stromberg carburettors and the newcomer received a warm reception at the time of launch in 1970, although longevity of the engine proved to be a problem. Most Stags were fitted with a Borg Warner automatic gearbox together with electric windows, power steering and power-assisted brakes fitted as standard. Very desirable, the Stag is well supported through various clubs and specialist suppliers.

Manufactured in late 1972 but first registered on 9th January 1973 this lovely privately owned Mk. II Stag is presented in white with contrasting black trim. One of the first Mk. II's it is described as completely original but for a replacement engine which was fitted in March 1983 at 53,410 miles. Its sales price in 1972 was £2,500 but has the features of a 1973, the tail panel was painted matt black with sills in black ripple effect. Purchased by our vendors father in 2013 the car was a regular at car shows and events such as Goodwood. The car was cosmetically restored in 2014, the paintwork is very good indeed and trim is smart, the engine was treated to a high-pressure water system and the wheels were also restored. Offered with a heritage certificate, large history file, original book pack and service passport stamped up until 2012 and the hardtop. A very well-presented, sensibly priced example that we believe is very good value for all those Stag enthusiasts.
