PORSCHE 911 CARRERA 4 - £Auction

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2025 on Saturday the 8th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. When the 964 was first brought to market, Porsche was keen to emphasise that, although it was patently still a 911, it was in fact 85% different from the outgoing model. The design featured more integrated bumpers and a host of mechanical changes, most significant of which was the availability of four-wheel drive. The displacement was now up to 3,600cc, producing 250bhp, power steering and ABS brakes were now fitted as standard, and the torsion bar rear suspension was replaced with coil springs and shock absorbers. Careful attention to the aerodynamics reduced the drag coefficient down to 0.32, and with virtually zero lift, stability and road holding at high speed were greatly improved. A new feature was the retractable spoiler which automatically extended at 50mph and in addition to seriously increasing downforce, also doubled the volume of cooling air fed into the engine compartment. Fitted with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, most variants were reputed to be capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of over 160mph. On offer here is a collector quality UK-supplied (C16) right-hand drive Carrera 4 911, equipped with the manual gearbox and had only covered 22,656 miles at the time of cataloguing. According to the accompanying Bill of Sale in the history file, the car was supplied by Merlin Porsche in Chesterfield and registered on 18th May 1990. The factory options listed on the invoice were: Stereo radio cassette, rear wiper, amplifier, sports seats, graduated top tint windscreen, and an electric sunroof. Finished in Grand Prix White, the 964 is fresh to market and is showing only two former keepers on the V5C. It has formed part of a couple of private collections over the last few years, spending quite long periods off the road and consequently the most recent service in the accompanying service record was by Falcon Porsche Automotive Engineers in 2016, when the odometer was reading 22,560 miles. In preparation for the sale, our vendor is going to get the car serviced prior to the auction offering its new owner peace of mind. The relevant paperwork for this service and any associated work will be available at our Documents Desk at the NEC during the event. Well presented 964s are increasingly difficult to find, with values rising as the final iteration of the original 911 body style continues to attract strong interest from collectors and enthusiasts alike. This example is the lowest mileage C4 we've ever offered and combined with the fact its showing only two former keepers and is fitted with the desirable manual gearbox makes this a rare opportunity indeed, and we highly recommend interested parties to come along to the NEC and see this impressive 911 for themselves.
