This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Race Retro 2026 - Collectors Cars on Saturday the 21st of February, Stoneleigh Park, Stoneleigh Rd, Coventry, CV8 2LG. Please note this lot is subject to vendor approval and may change. At first glance, the 356C, introduced in mid-1963, differed little externally from its predecessor, the 356B, since it continued to use the T-6 body type which had arrived in 1962. Porsche, however, brought the 356 concept to its zenith with the 356C, available in Coupé and Cabriolet form, with the addition of Dunlop four-wheel disc brakes as standard, a higher-lift camshaft for the 1,600cc engine, new flat-face hubcaps and deeper bucket seats. These seats came courtesy of Porsche's acquisition of Reutter, which included the future Recaro subsidiary. 356 production peaked at 14,151 cars in 1964 which coincided with the arrival of the new 911 model, however, Porsche continued to sell the 356C in North America right through to the end of 1965. This left-hand drive example left the factory in February 1964 bound, as many were, for the California sunshine which it enjoyed for many years before arriving in Holland on 18th December 1996. Some years later it was imported to the UK and was purchased by the current owner in 2015. Whilst in generally very good condition, he decided to treat the car to an extensive paint restoration and refinish in the attractive period shade of Bali Blue, with the work being completed in August 2017. The car's overall condition suggests that it has been professionally restored at some point in the past and a there is a door-shut mounted plaque from 'Nova Classica BV, Leeuwarden, Nederland  Number #00297' which may be relevant. The cream leather interior continues to present very well with clean door cards, good headlining, painted dashboard and crisp instruments. The engine bay is clean and tidy, the chromed steel wheels and Michelin XZX tyres are good and the chromework and lighting are excellent, all giving the impression that the little Porsche has been very well cared for. It's fitted with a period-correct (possibly original) push-button Blaupunkt 'Blue Spot' and a bespoke chrome luggage rack fits neatly over the engine cover. The car has been kept in climate-controlled storage and has seen little road use recently. It has benefitted from regular servicing and fluid changes and will be subject to a service at Porsche prior to the sale. The car is accompanied by paperwork from its time overseas, UK invoices and receipts, a handwritten record of work completed, a Porsche 356 owner’s workshop manual and additional supporting literature. As well as being a competent and sporting Coupé, this beautifully presented, left-hand drive 356 is a perfect representation of the late fifties/early sixties period that is absolutely in fashion at the moment and this desirable example would be welcome anywhere.
