It's believed that around 60 to 80 examples of the XPower SV were completed at Longbridge before MG went into liquidation in April 2005. This example is number 6, finished in British Racing Green. According to the history file it was the daily driver of Kevin Howes, Chief Executive of MG Rover Group and a Phoenix board member. The MoT lasts to 7th July 2026, and it has never received an advisory in its life, despite being tested almost every year.MG used this car as a promotional vehicle. It was displayed at many international motor shows, and in 2004 it took part in the F1 Regent Street parade in London, driven by F1 Minardi driver Zsolt Baumgartner with team owner Paul Stoddart in the passenger seat - as seen by images in the history file. The XPower SVs were built using a carbon fibre body over a box-frame chassis. Power comes from a Sean Hyland 4.6-litre quad-cam, 32-valve, Mustang-derived V8, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed Tremec manual gearbox and Hydratrak differential. 0-60mph is despatched in 4.5 seconds, and with a heavy right foot it's reported to push on to 175mph. This particular example was also treated to numerous upgrades to satisfy the CEO, including an interior retrim upgrade and engine tweaks which brought power up from 325bhp to nearer 380bhp. The instrument pack was also upgraded in 2006, and records 16,960 miles. The car's true mileage is reported to be 42,800.There have been 4 recorded keepers in total, the first being Kevin Howes. After the collapse of MG Rover, a Mr Weston purchased the car from the administrators in January 2006. He enjoyed the car for 17 years, taking part in many rallies and shows. Upon his death in 2023 the car passed to his wife, who subsequently sold it to our vendor. The history file is comprehensive, containing every MoT from new. Receipts show that Scole Engineering attended to its every need, with maintenance invoices totalling around £8000. Documents include various brochures, information and instruction books, photos, old V5Cs, and an original MG XPower presentation book with CD.This is an exciting opportunity to purchase a rare Italian/Longbridge-built MG XPower SV with a uniquely fascinating history.
