With the SL model representing the second longest single series ever produced by the German manufacturer, it is of little surprise that some modifications were made over years to adjust and increase its potential to the pre-existing rock-solid build quality. Originally purchased from Mayfair Mercedes-Benz on Park Lane, this example was used as a daily driver by its first owner for the ensuing fifteen years. At around 2011, it was decided to treat this true-blue classic to a bare-metal restoration and heart transplant at the same time. During this process, a five litre engine was fitted with a reported 60,000 miles under its belt. This now 'range-topping' SL benefits from a rear seat option and a heated factory hardtop as well a soft top in very good order with no fogging to the rear window and a new set of soft top irons. Also fitted are Mexican Hat alloy wheels with Tristar Radials, fog lamps, windscreen wipers to the headlights and an advanced Scorpion alarm system. It also reportedly, and unsurprisingly, caught the eye of Mercedes Enthusiast magazine whereupon it featured in the 2012 edition as a car to watch. It is presented with a recent service costing over £1,800, including a new windscreen and now fully refreshed, it runs smoothly with numerous long trips already undertaken. (Please be advised, immediately prior to inspection, the file of paperwork was unfortunately stolen from the vendor). Consigned by Edward Bridger-Stille
