LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 4.2 SUPERCHARGED VOGUE SE - EX-HER MAJ - £Auction
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Silverstone Festival 2025 - Collectors Cars on Saturday the 23rd of August, The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN. The L322 has been cementing its cult-like status across the motor industry piece-by-piece ever since its original launch in 2002. They manage to look ‘at home’ in any and all situations combining luxury with understated, yet imposing, good looks and supreme comfort. Some specifications have stood out over time and aged exceptionally gracefully, notably ‘green over tan’ being favoured by A-List celebrities and motoring royalty such as Jeremy Clarkson, Harry Metcalfe and the Royal Household. 2006 saw a facelift for the L322, bringing in the ‘1.5’ generation that is widely considered the sweetspot of the L322 era, benefiting from a plethora of updates and upgrades including new headlights, a ZF 6-speed gearbox, revised air suspension, newer 'infotainment' system, revised front grille becoming mesh, 20” wheels and discreet ‘Supercharged’ badging with polished tailpipes. There were vast improvements in refinement and aesthetics throughout, yet predating the introduction of digital screens meaning the tactile luxury was maintained. Originally supplied by Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations under Contract 41478, this 2006 Range Rover L322 was delivered new on 25th April 2006 for the exclusive use of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. As with all vehicles of this nature it is almost impossible to clarify early ownership with various authorities but, pleasingly, the car has been photographed extensively while in service. Notably HRH Queen Elizabeth II can be seen in attendance and departing the vehicle at the 2007 Royal Windsor Horse Show, verifying the provenance to be both genuine and distinguished. BJ06 ZGM was specified in the most quintessential and notorious Royal Household colours of Tonga Green over Sand Oxford leather, combined with extended burr walnut trim and clear glass. Importantly, this is believed to be the only Supercharged L322 ever owned by the Royal Household, fitted with the revered Jaguar derived 4.2-litre Supercharged V8. In preparation for Royal duties, the car benefits from subtle, yet significant modifications from new by SVO/Lode Lane that truly identify this car as one specified by the Royal Household. These modifications include the expected additions such as side steps, mud flaps, a load-space mat, rear grab handles to assist with entry and exit, and the infamous dog guard, all features on Royal 4x4s known to be used by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Upon decommissioning the car had the grab handles removed, but the holes are visible under the B-pillar trim with the trim panel replaced. More discreetly, the Range Rover was subjected to a smorgasbord of bespoke enhancements specific to Her Majesty’s personal preferences and operational requirements. These include a host of upgraded internal wiring (completed to an exceptional standard), allowing for the use of external communication and security equipment as well as dual rear window switches. The work throughout is subtle, thoroughly professional, and speaks volumes for the vehicle’s intended purpose at the highest level of national service. We understand the car was based predominantly at Windsor Castle, supported by a main dealer service carried out at Guy Salmon Ascot in May 2007, the closest Land Rover dealership to the estate. BJ06 ZGM’s Royal duties concluded in late May 2008 when it was replaced by CK58 NPJ, the L322 HRH Queen Elizabeth retained until her passing, which currently resides in a collection. When BJ06 ZGM was formally released to the public it had completed just over two years of exclusive service to the Monarch and is believed to be the only Supercharged variation of L322 that operated in Royal services. CK58 maintained the Supercharged mesh grille but was a 3.6-Litre TDV8. Today, the car has recorded a whisper under 120,000 miles and remains in exceptional condition throughout. The bodywork is very well preserved both on top and underneath the car, with none of the rust issues found in the usual L322 problem areas, namely the rear arches and tailgate. The car comes prepared for sale following a service, a comprehensive paint correction detail as well as being fitted with brand new, marque-correct Pirelli Scorpion tyres. Accompanying the car is its original blue leather wallet, complete with handbooks and relevant literature, as well as a comprehensive service history. The history file includes a number of invoices and bills for servicing and maintenance throughout its life. With Royal L322s being so rare and well documented, this is an opportunity to own an historically significant, supremely capable, and immaculately presented Royal Range Rover. It remains in excellent condition throughout and with confirmed Royal Ownership, this is one Range Rover that has, and rightfully will, stand out from the crowd. Your early inspection is warmly encouraged to appreciate the vehicle on offer.
