LAMBRETTA LI 150 SPECIAL - £POA

Manufactured by the Italian industrial giant Innocenti, the Lambretta scooter gained instant acceptance in the immediate post-war years, with its cleanliness and convenience appealing to those who regarded the 'true' motorcycle with suspicion. 'Lambretta' takes its name from the factory in Lambrate, the east suburb of Milan, where Innocenti produced them. In the UK, Italian scooters were adopted as favoured transport by the 'Mods' becoming one of the enduring style icons of the 1960s. Following the somewhat unreliable TV 175 Series I, Lambretta went back to the drawing board to create one of its all-time greats: the 'Li'. Built as a 125 or 150, the classic Li used the bore/stroke dimensions of the preceding 'D' Series but housed its entirely new engine in modern bodywork similar to that of the TV.

This 1969 manufactured Lambretta presents in good working order and is finished in blue and white. Our vendor is just the fourth owner and has spared no expense bringing the scooter back to its former glory. Some of the work he has personally done includes: new electronic ignition, wiring loom, carburettor and fuel tank, brakes and a great deal of the engine. In his words, he performed “basically, a full nut-and-bolt strip down and reassembly.” Our vendor advises that while the V5C registration document claims it's a 125, the scooter is in fact a 150 which is something verified in the history file. He believes this is due to an error made by a previous owner in re-registering the Lambretta. Today, this bike is ready and raring to go and due to its age, it's also MoT exempt, leaving little between its next owner and the open road. Consigned by Charlie McCreery
