JAGUAR 340 - £Auction

The lineage of the Mk. II can be directly traced back to its predecessor, the 2.4 saloon, or Mk. I as it would come to be retrospectively known in later years. This sporting saloon, designed to fill the gap in Jaguar's range between the XK sports and voluminous Mk. VII, entered the market in 1956. The '2.4' was not overly burdened with pace so Jaguar's response was to come in the shape of a 3.4 litre version launched in 1957 to supplement its smaller brother.

Registered new on 23rd August 1968, this manual overdrive example is a 3.4 litre (340) model and comes with a large history file that shows much maintenance over the years, which includes a rebuild of the cylinder head in 2003 and bodywork repairs and repaint in 2016. The file also contains general service and repair bills as far back as 1994. Fitted with power steering and Coopercraft front brakes the car sits on its chrome wire wheels and has 'Coombs' type rear wheel arches. The Jaguar remains in good condition with the interior woodwork and trim in good order, both carpets and seats are in fine fettle while the exterior body work is in good condition with only minor signs of age. In good order runn the Jaguar runs well, and the manual gearbox works as it should. It also benefits from having power steering, a very desirable feature. Supplied with its original toolkit, and extra jack, car cover, sundry bills and invoices, old MoT records, its current V5 registration document, and an MoT with no advisories valid until 17th June 2026. A much loved and well cared for example which is ready to be enjoyed by its new custodian! Consigned by Daniel Godin
