The unveiling of the sixth generation (S550) Ford Mustang in December of 2013 caused a seismic shift in global automotive circles, as the quintessential symbol of American muscle car culture evolved once again. Boasting a trio of powertrain options, including the groundbreaking 2.3-litre EcoBoost delivering over 300bhp, a robust 3.7-litre V6 offering a similar power output at 310bhp and the legendary 5-litre V8 churning out over 430bhp, the S550 Mustang set hearts racing worldwide. Transmission choices ranged from a 6-speed manual to a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters, providing enthusiasts with unparalleled driving experiences. Breaking new ground, the S550 Mustang was engineered for both left and right-hand drive, heralding its entry into global markets and another milestone came in the form of independent rear suspension, transforming its handling dynamics beyond its straight-line speed prowess.

As part of the development program for the new TVR resurgence, several test mule cars were required for the development of new systems applicable for the new car designed by Gordon Murray who's next project would be produced under his own name, the incredible G50 hypercar. The car offered here is one such car, but interestingly, was never actually used for any development work. It has been kept in a secure dehumidified in storage since being imported to the UK and presents a unique opportunity as not only is it a brand new 2018 V8 Mustang, but it also carries an interesting back story and provenance.
