FORD ESCORT MK. I FAST ROAD/RALLY CAR - £19,000
This example arrived in the UK from South Africa around three years ago and is a very early and remarkably solid shell, which looks to be a very original structurally and the exterior wears a very attractive patina which suits the car well. The first UK owner added the bubble arches you see today and the finished product is a very tastefully built Mk. I Escort which would make a lovely fast road car or could quite easily be put into use on the rally scene. Power comes from a very sweet 1600cc Crossflow engine with twin choke Weber carburettor, and we are told the car drives particularly well with good power and a smooth gearbox. A motorsport fuel cell has been fitted in the boot, as well as a half roll cage (bolted in) and a pair of Sparco Sprint bucket seats. Continuing the motorsport theme, a set of 13” Minilite wheels and Cibie spotlights are also fitted. This really is a very attractive Escort at an equally attractive price and is supplied to auction with a V5C registration document. Consigned by Fraser Smith
