The 239 Desmo was one of the last single-cylinder bikes to be produced by Ducati and was aimed at the French market 239cc meant it conformed to the then French 240cc regulations Built in small numbers with only a couple of hundred remaining worldwide This front disc brake example was purchased new by the late Paul Smart, ex-Ducati works rider and 1972 Imola 200 winner, for his son Scott to race Paul converted the bike in period to 250cc with a replacement piston The Smarts sold the bike in 1992 via their Kawasaki dealership with an invoice and photo included in the sale Current owner acquired the bike in 2004 and has slowly restored it to its current condition Restoration includes, paintwork, new tyres, electronic ignition and a recent dyno set up Presented in running order Our vendor competed in the 2008 Motogiro d'Italia and claims the bike ran without issues Great opportunity to own a Ducati with direct Paul Smart provenance UK-registered on a current V5C
