CHILD’S BATMOBILE 1989 VERSION - £4,000

Everyone's favourite midnight vigilante fighting crime on the streets of Gotham City has had various modes of transport affordable only to a billionaire such as Bruce Wayne. When plans for a new Batman film to be directed by Tim Burton were announced, a brand new Batmobile was created for what would become the 1989 film Batman and would be used once again for its sequel Batman Returns in 1992. For the production of both films, two cars were utilized before Warner Brothers commissioned three additional vehicles for publicity and promotional use including this one. Anton Furst designed the vehicles using the design of tanks and other military weapons as inspiration. The cars are all about 20 feet in length and are built on two Chevrolet Impala chassis' spliced together. In addition, the vehicles have a V8 Chevrolet engine, components of a Rolls-Royce jet engine for the hood-mounted intake, and a British Herrier fighter jet utilized for the turbine blades in the nosepiece. Lastly, the car is equipped with Mickey Thompson racing tires built on custom wheels.

Offered here is an excellent copy of the original movie cars, but made as a child's mini version of the original car. Powered by a go kart style overhead cam engine instead of a Chevrolet V8, it does indeed, run and drive and is reported by the vendor to go surprisingly quickly! Having been hardly used over the past ten years, it is time for it to find a new Batcave. The fibreglass body presents beautifully giving a realistic impression of the film car. Built as a one third size replica of the original movie cars, this fantastic little car is the perfect Christmas gift for any young crime fighter. Consigned by Mark Perkins
