New MoT. Nice condition in black over shell grey with green leather. Our own car, this is an early S-series with the long-established in-line six cylinder engine upgraded to 4.9 L (4887cc). A step up in design from the Mk VI/R-type immediate post-War models and closer to the Rolls Royce equivalent Silver Dawn. This nearly 70-year-old Bentley is very usable in modern traffic and a delight to drive. Last of the hand-built Bentleys with a proper chassis and the rugged engine, the S1 stands out from the crowd as only 3,538 were built. The car has a service and maintenance record with many receipts from a mileage of 26k miles to its present value of 77k. This includes a respray from green to its present colours in 1981, engine rebuild in 1988 and complete reupholstery in soft green leather in 2000. Since then, it has hardly been used with the last full service only 1000 miles back. Chrome, interior, engine, brakes and auxiliary items are all excellent. The underneath is robust and tidy. The coachwork and wheels are fine for everyday use with the mellow patina and wear appropriate for an old Bentley. It would probably need a blow-over respray to win shows. The car came to us from York and retains its delightful (transferrable) registration, YKE 222, and its original handbook.  With recent MoT.
