Aston Martin EFI V8 Saloon The 1988 Aston Martin V8 Saloon EFI is a notable model in the history of Aston Martin, representing a blend of luxury, performance, and British automotive heritage. Produced between 1986 to 1989 ONLY 60 cars were built 43 right hand drive and 17 left hand drive. Only eight cars were with manual transmission, five right hand drive and three left hand drive. The 5.3-liter engine was documented to produced315bhp with 345lb ft of torque @ 3500rpm, the gearbox was the three speed Chrysler Torqueflight automatic transmission or the five speed ZF with the dogleg first gear. With a maximum speed of 146 mph and a 0 to 60 of 6.6 secs and a 0 to 100 in 16 secs, in the day it was still a good overall performer. The cost in 1988 started at £58,500 and went up to £92,000 (GBP) The Best of the Best​ ​This car has an outstanding documented history known from the time when Mr R.N Smith of Lambert, Smith and Partners in London ordered the car from Aston Martin Sales in London and took delivery on 4th January 1988. The car had a registration number of RBN 2. The car was ordered with Winchester Blue exterior paintwork and Magnolia leather trim with dark blue piping. Walnut wood veneer finishers and beigeWilton carpets edged with dark blue leather. The roof lining is Fawn leather. The period BBS wheels with Avon 235VR tyres. Automatic transmission. The car was serviced by Aston Martin Service and Restoration Department, Newport Pagnel. The car was then sold to Mr. Norman Bachop, who lived in London, but shortly after purchasing retired and moved to Scotland and took the car with him, but did not feel the car will be used fully and mentioned to several Classic Car Dealers he wish to sell the car. The car was sold to a gentleman in Essex but could not conclude the deal and the current owner stepped in during February 1999. The car underwent a full road test report at Aston martin Service and Restoration Department at Newport Pagnel to confirm the car was in good order and the car was purchased. Outright Winner Following the purchase the current owner underwent a rigorous and in-depthcleaning of the whole car uncovering any part of the nook and cranny which required cleaning, rust treatment or replacing. This car was going to win concours events, NOT just any old concours the target was Elite, the very best. This included the whole underside being stripped back to bare metal, treating and show finishing with all the correct material and methods used to make it totally correct. The internal inner and outer side sills have been replaced and all the right people have carried out the work correctly and fully documented. Learning as progress moved forward the car is quite correct in so many ways and many improvements to the old building process have made the car a delight to own and drive, a real showstopper.
