1992 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 - £29,995
This listing is for my Land Rover Defender 90 200tdi. This defender has been fully stripped down and completely rebuilt in 2017/2018 to the highest spec.
Chassis was replaced with a new galvanised chassis from Richards chassis. It was specified to have td5 rear fuel tank mounts so that I could fit a td5 fuel tank at the rear and tdci seatbox that has the extra box under the drivers seat. This now houses the 12 way auxiliary fuse box for all extra lights as well as the vehicle Jack, jump leads and tool kit.
A later style station wagon rear tub has been fitted with the fuel filler towards the rear, allowing for the the seats to go further back and allow a much more comfortable seating position.
Both axles have been swapped for td5 axles with EBC vented disks on the front axle and disks on the rear axle: an upgrade from the rear drum brakes and solid front disks. Both axles have been completely stripped bare, shot blasted and then completely rebuilt with all new seals, bearings and Teflon coated swivel housings. The brakes have also been upgraded to ebc performance drilled, grooved and vented disks and ebc performance pads.
To help with body roll, front and rear anti-roll bars have been fitted. The Defender features Bf Goodrich ko2 all terrain tyres, which are widely regarded as the best all terrain tyres on the market.
A old man emu front steering damper has been fitted and bilstein shocks have been fitted all round.
The original 200tdi engine has been stripped down to a bare block and rebuilt with all new piston rings, big end bearings, main bearing crank shells, and seals. The cylinder head has also been stripped down and all valves re- cut and new stem seals fitted. The turbo has been rebuilt by turbo dynamics and the intercooler has also beeen upgraded to a full width allisport one. A fourby four by four boost ring and boost pin has also been fitted.
The original LT77 gearbox has been replaced with a stronger R380 gearbox, fitted with a stubby bell housing kit from Ashcroft transmissions to allow it to be fitted to a 200tdi engine.
The 1:4 ratio LT230 transfer box has been replaced with a 1:2 ratio box from a discovery, which keeps engine revs lower for the same speed, making motorway speeds a lot less deafening. Before fitting the 1:2 ratio box, it was completely stripped down and rebuilt with all new bearings, seals and a heavy duty cross pin kit from Ashcroft transmissions as well as a cross drilled input gear.
The bulkhead was swapped for a td5 bulkhead with the newer style td5 dash and electronic (more accurate) speedo binnacle.
Every single panel on the inside has been sound deadened with a two step process, using layers of Dynamat or skinz and then a layer of 5mm acoustic closed cell foam. The rear tub and seat box have been covered in carpet, to give the vehicle a luxury feel whilst simultaneously reducing noise.
The front seats have been changed for XS half leather heated seats to match the Exmoor trim inward facing rear seats. The handbrake has also been swapped for a Range Rover handbrake which has been moved from the standard position from the front of the seat box, this is now next to the drivers seat to make for easier driving
The rear door has been entirely replaced with a later style tdci one piece rear door. All doors have been repaired using new sections to eliminate any rust. They have also been fully sound proofed with Dynamat and acoustic foam before being converted to have power windows instead of wind up windows. The old hinges have been replaced with genuine tdci hinges.
The windscreen has been upgraded to a heated one, which is handy for those colder mornings!
The sunroof has a new seal fiited.
The bonnet has been replaced with a puma bonnet, this has also been fully sound proofed and has had a Dynamat hood liner applied to help with keeping the engine noise down.
Every nut, bolt and washer used to put everything together is high grade stainless Steel and had anti-corrosion paste applied before fitting to help with galvanic corrosion.
The rear hard top van sides were swapped for some station wagon sliding window rear sides to improve passengers' experience.
All the side lights, indicators, brake lights, number plate light, fog light and reverse light have been upgraded to LED lights to improve visibility and reliability. All the light connectors have also been upgraded from the bullet connectors to proper econoseal type connectors, also increasing reliability.
The original wiring harness has also been fully refurbished.
The original head lining has been re-covered in black scrim backed material.
Features an aluminium Hannibal roof rack, which won't rust, and a Raptor 4X4 light bar.
The stereo has been upgraded to a pioneer double din unit that has apple car play and android auto. This also features a rear view camera to help with reversing.
Rear door features a Mantec spare wheel carrier to help keep the weight off the rear door.
Features front and rear Mud Flaps to help prevent mud being flung up the doors.
To go with the mud flaps, gwyn lewis inner arch mud gaurds have been fitted the front and rear arches. These stop the build up of mud and debris on top of the chassis outriggers. Also a kit has been fitted that relocates the front mud flap further out to stop mud and water being flung up the side of the doors.
A clutch pedal assistance spring was fitted, to make the clutch easier to press.
Features a first four tubular bumper in combination with a flat dog steering guard.
The Land Rover contains a second battery, wired via a t maxx split charger that allows you to link or un-link the batteries via a control panel mounted in the the cubby box. The second battery feeds an auxiliary fuse box which all the lights are wired into meaning you don't have to worry about draining the battery by having the work lights or light bar on. It also means you can turn them on without having the engine running.
An oil temp and oil pressure gauge has been installed to keep an eye on the engine and safe guard against any catastrophic engine failures.
Please feel free to ask any questions. Viewing is highly recommended. Available for test drives, dependant on proof of adequate insurance.
